HAVING THE RIGHT STUFF TO START SCHOOL MEANS MORE SUCCESS WITH LEARNING.
Here at the Y, we know kids. In fact, we stand for youth development. The YMCA Bright Beginnings is a community outreach program partnering with local schools and organizations to identify and provide children in need with school supplies and new clothes need to start the school year with confidence.
This year families are facing unique challenges. And for those families that were already struggling financially pre-pandemic providing basic essentials such as school supplies and tools their children will need for learning is even more difficult.
The Y is determined to help all children be prepared, confident, and successful in school. This year students will need supplies to complete their lessons. Depending on some difficult decisions being made over the next couple of weeks learning may be taking place at virtually home, school, or another alternative place.
We are moving forward with offering a unique, but familiar, Bright Beginnings program in 2020.
Bright beginnings Supplies Drive
As the summer comes to an end and youth return to their classrooms whether they are at school or home, the Bright Beginnings program will ensure that children have the necessary tools to prepare for learning. Please join us in helping make a difference for a child this school year.
Drop off of school supplies will be contactless. You will just drive up to the front of the Y and pop your trunk, and a staff member from the YMCA will collect the items.

Make a Donation
There is no cost to the child’s family to participate. We count on the generosity of individuals, organizations and corporations and we are determined to send 1,000 children from the YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas service area shopping this August. But we need your help. All donations are greatly appreciated; sponsoring 10 children ($1,500) or even just one or two children at $150 each, makes a difference.
Please contact Leslie Bryant at firstname.lastname@example.org or 757-952-2255 to discuss how you can give back and support our youngest neighbors.
