Because . . .

family-dad-mom-girlsWe know firsthand how difficult it can be to find balance in life. That’s why we’re here with you every day, making sure your family has access to the resources and support needed to learn, grow and thrive. With the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility as our guide, we work with you to help your children have fun while realizing their potential. At the Y, you can be assured that whatever activity your family or your child engages in – from child care to family time to sports to camp – you’ll have a safe, positive environment to play, learn, and grow.

Each Y location offers its own selection of family-friendly programs and classes. Some of the family-friendly programs offered at the Y are:

Birthday Parties – Schedule your child’s birthday party at the Y and leave the fuss to us. The party includes a choice of activity, run by Y staff for one hour, followed by one hour of party time. Activity choices include swimming pool (recreational swim and water games), rock climbing wall (ages 5 and up *Victory only), Child Watch (free play and organized games), gym games (choice of basketball, volleyball, and indoor soccer or parachute games). Price of packages depends on the level of service you desire. Parties are scheduled Saturday or Sunday afternoons on a first-come, first served basis. Minimum of two weeks reservation time required.

Chili Cook-off – Who makes the best chili? If you think you do, then enter our chili cook-off and prove it to our panel of four local judges. You’ll need four (4) quarts of chili to compete; one submission per person accepted.

Fall Festival – Kids up to age 12 wear a non-scary costume to the YMCA for games, face painting, tattoos, and trick-or-treating. Activities may include Pumpkin Decorating Contest and Fall Movie Night.

Family Camp – Are you looking for an affordable adventure for your family? Join us for family camp at YMCA Camp Kekoka this summer! Families can stay in one of our cabins or pitch their own tent and enjoy a weekend full of awesome activities like tubing, windsurfing, kayaking, sailing, fishing, crabbing, kickball, pool time, and much more!

Family Night – Spend quality time with your family at the Y!  Families are invited to participate in FREE monthly activities, such as Aqua Night, Sock Hops, Fam Jam, Games Night, Movie Under the Stars and more!

Family Volunteer Day – Held the third week in November, members and volunteers come together to decorate and pack boxes of food for area families in need. Volunteers of all ages are needed to help with our community outreach. Check with your Y for the date of this year’s events and to see how you and your family can help!

Healthy Kids Day®  – The YMCA opens our doors and invites the whole community in to see and experience what the YMCA has to offer to keep our children healthy and safe. Healthy Kids Day is a national YMCA program, typically held in April every year.

Kids’ Night Out – Parents, enjoy an evening out while your kids enjoy an exciting night at the YMCA. Children participate in activities including theme-oriented games and crafts, movies, and swimming.

Open Swim – Splashing and playing in the water is a fun way for parents and kids to strengthen their bond; it’s good for kids to see their parents play and have fun.

Sailing – If you can dream it, you can do it. Sail off into the Chesapeake Bay with the YMCA.  Participants learn sailing terminology, safe sailing practices, and how to rig a boat, launch it into the water, and sail away successfully.

*All programs are not offered at all locations, but YMCA members have access to all programs at all locations.
