Step Aerobic Exercise Classes

Not only are you getting a great cardio workout with step aerobics, you are also building muscle. When you work out in a step aerobics class, the resistance is your body weight and the weight-bearing aspect is increased every time you step up. The high-energy atmosphere can contribute to feeling good and ease tension and even promote relaxation.

Step 1:

A basic low-intensity, Hi/Lo-impact step aerobics class. This class teaches all the basic steps and gives you a great cardiovascular workout; it is easy to follow and ideal for beginners.
Intensity level: Low

Step 2:

More intense than Step 1, this class utilizes a Step for a great cardiovascular workout.
Intensity level: Medium

Step 3:

The ultimate class of Step choreography and cardiovascular endurance.
Intensity level: Medium/High

Step and Tone:

This moderate- to high-intensity, low-impact, total-body workout using the step to improve cardiovascular fitness with intervals of strength-training.
The intensity level of this class is Medium

YES Step

This YES (Young Energetic Seniors) class focuses on cardiovascular endurance using the step to improve cardiovascular health, muscle strength, endurance, and flexibility for active adults seeking to increase the ability to perform activities of daily life.
Intensity Level: Low/Medium

Each YMCA location creates their own schedule of group exercise classes to offer and classes are rotated to keep workouts new and fresh so members stay engaged with their routines.
