Youth Lifeguarding Programs
Guard Start – Junior Lifeguarding
Designed to guide youth to the American Red Cross Lifeguard program by building a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills for future lifeguarding. The foundation consists of 5 categories – Prevention, Fitness, Response, Leadership, and Professionalism. This does not certify them to lifeguard. Class meets once a week for 8 weeks. Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 25 yards with head up or front crawl w/rhythmic breathing, tread water 1 minute and submerge to 9 feet deep.

YMCA Lifeguard Certification
(Minimum age: 16 years) Prerequisites for this class are: Must successfully complete basic first aid, CPR, AED and Oxygen Administration; on the first night of class the students must be able to swim 500 yards to include the following strokes: front crawl, elementary backstroke, breast stroke, sidestroke, and sidestroke kick. Course Fee includes: Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR-PR, AED and Oxygen Administration.

Adult Lifeguarding Programs
American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
Prerequisites for this class are successful completion of basic first aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. On the first night of class, the students must be able to swim 500 yards, to include the following strokes: front crawl with rotary breathing and breaststroke, and swim 20 yards, surface dive to a minimum depth of 7 feet to retrieve a 10 lb. brick, and return to starting point.
