Programs for Youth
Because . . . all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. Through the Y, millions of youth today are cultivating the values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, and educational achievement. At the Y, kids have the opportunity to make friends, have fun, get active and discover who they are and what they can achieve. Our activities, which range from leadership development to sports and arts, give you the opportunity to become a confident kid today and a healthier, happier grown-up tomorrow.
The Peninsula Metropolitan YMCA offers hundreds of opportunities for kids to swim, camp, play, and learn. Our youth programs are generally separated into age-appropriate groups and all are always designed around the character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Staff are trained to be role-models for the children and often work with the help of trained YMCA volunteers (screened and vetted) to provide the best quality youth programs possible.
We offer a variety of camps for the summer including day camps, resident camp, sports camps, and specialty camps.
We provide quality child care for infants, preschool, before school, after school, and for school holidays.
Education & Leadership
Children have opportunities to learn a variety of arts and humanities including cooking, dance, music and develop skills as leaders.
YMCA Youth Sports are among our communities best; we offer a huge variety to give children a chance to discover what they like.
Did you know the Y invented the first indoor pool and filtration system? Yes, we’ve been teaching kids to be safe in the water since 1885 and we’ve taught millions of kids how to swim. We also offer a variety of conditioning classes, swim teams, and lifeguard training.
