VOLUNTEER TO SAVE LIVES
As a volunteer swim instructor, you will help shape children's future by teaching them important skills such as swimming technique, water safety, and having fun while being active. Opportunities include second-grade learn-to-swim instructor, swim team coach, and more.
STEPS TO BECOMING A VOLUNTEER
Step 2
Complete background check and sign off on Code of Conduct Online/Social Media, Confidentiality Statement Form, and Emergency Communication Procedures.
Step 3
Complete a brief swim assessment and Child Abuse Prevention training.
FAQ
For women, an approved one-piece swimsuit is required. For men, swim trunks. The YMCA will provide a swim shirt for you.
You will never be alone with a group of children. You will always have a certified swim instructor with you who will guide you through the lesson.
You will need your approved swimsuit, towel, and footwear to wear to and from the locker room. All teaching equipment is provided.
