Celebrating Black History Month

Every year we celebrate Black History Month to honor the achievement of African Americans in our community and their significant contributions to United States History. The month's history dates back to "Negro History Week," which was established by Carter G. Woodson and other essential members of history.

This year at the YMCA of the Virginia Peninsula, we are spending Black History Month featuring local heroes, our staff, business leaders, and inspirational authors. We invite you to join us on the journey on Social Media and our website as we highlight members of our community and become stronger as an organization through diversity.

Black Owned Businesses

We are featuring Black Owned Businesses for Black History Month and their impact on our community. Join us in visiting these pillars of our community this month.
