Welcome to Hampton Family YMCA

Our YMCA began in 1980 with the commitment of Hampton residents and city leaders. The Hampton Family YMCA provides a safe, family-oriented environment, and a gathering place for thousands of kids, families, seniors, and individuals. Elizabeth Elam

  • What inspired you to become part of the YMCA community? I have always loved serving others and building relationships. When I was a teenager working at the YMCA everyone in a leadership role modeled the values and it made me want to be part of the YMCA in a long term capacity.
  • What are some of your most significant accomplishments at the YMCA? Supporting the learn to swim program at the YMCA to include leading efforts with Newport News Public Schools and coordinating and leading the first prayer breakfast at the YMCA of Greater Richmond.
  • What are your hobbies/interests outside of work? Spending time with friends and family, camping, and outdoor activities.

Give to The Y

When you give to the Y, you support programs and services that help kids succeed, prevent drowning, prepare teens for life and help people grow healthier in spirit, mind, and body. The Y is needed now more than ever to meet the evolving needs of our community.
